When it comes to planning your martial arts goals, there are two things I always like to consider. That’s time and options. Did you know seeing all your options 1 year in advance helps structure your time? If you knew what was listed ahead, ironing out the current schedule would be easier and less stressful. As a matter of fact, the road to accomplishing it would reveal itself. No more guessing and trying as you go. This way, its more purposeful.
I like to list all the options I know of. This is really important! Why? Because it helps you get used to saying “No” appropriately. What do I mean by that? It’s a form of prioritizing and strengthening where your values lie. The ones you say “Yes” to, then becomes a practice of either being conservative or aggressive with your goals. Up to you when working on your outlook for the future.
If your plan doesn’t look messy while writing it, then you’re limiting yourself. Yes…a nice clean plan is pretty to look at, but where is the exercise of compromise and consideration. Better is to go through a healthy draft phase to get your thoughts out so you don’t have to try to remember. Let your work serve you so you don’t have to try so hard.
