Goals and Dreams for 2022

It’s 2022! Happy New Year!

It’s that time of year again where goals and resolutions get their chance to become clearer through thought, word and deed. For me, I think I’ll be approaching it a little aggressively but will anticipate that a few areas will get more attention than others. By the end of the year, I would have accomplish what I could to some degree and that will reveal the tone for the next year. I find that through this approach, there is less room for regret and much more room for growth oriented thinking.

In a profession, once upon a time before becoming a full time martial artist, there was this certification my team was trying to attain. It strikes me because there are belts that represent the levels of the cert. It’s called Lean Six Sigma and we were all trying to get the green belt.

This knowledge base has an interesting backbone process. It’s ancronym is DMAIC which stands for

  • Define
  • Measure
  • Analyze
  • Improve
  • Control

The first one, Define, is always where to start. So let’s start defining the goals as its the most important part of the process. The more clarity the better!

My goals for this year would be to compete specifically in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The original start was supposed to be in 2020 but we all know what happened that at year. All good though. The time then was used as best as I could to set myself better for this year.

As a 44 year old, I can tell you I still feel it’s in there; the competition spirit. After many years of setting up the business aspect of the martial arts academy, I feel like I can now engage. So what’s on the list?

  • Atlanta, Miami and Indianapolis IBJJF opens
  • Camp at Atos HQ for a time
  • Pan Ams (gi)

Hopefully I get my coordination cleaner as the new IBJJF calendar rolls out.

  • Furnish the academy’s heavy bag rack with brand new heavy bags.
  • Launch a brand new Basics curriculum for Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
  • Grow Impact’s YouTube channel.
  • Rank Impact as number one on Google’s search engine for my local area.
  • Launch the Instructor’s Courseware version 5.
  • Grow Impact Online app with a robust courseware catalog.
  • Send each of my staff members to train with my mentors.
  • Muay Thai Expo 2022
  • Muay Thai Tournament of Champions

  • Work with a personal trainer specifically on strength and conditioning.
  • Learn more about being a nutritionist at its fundamental level.
  • Become more active on Instagram. I’ve been away for too long.
  • Attend WTBA’s Muay Thai Camp in Oregon with my family and staff.

Pretty aggressive list I should say. But hey, a challenge is a challenge. Let’s get it!
