2018 Success Formula

Today couldn’t be setup for us any better than now. It’s Monday. It’s January 1 and it is at the top of the new year so let’s not waste anymore time than has already passed. Everyone is talking about how last year was a bust and are finally glad it is in the books; myself included. This blog site has been my litmus test throughout my career as a professional martial artist since leaving my day job about three years ago. It has closed, was restarted, promised content and so on. Time for the good reps right? Let’s get started.

The Winning Formula

Motivation isn’t enough at the turn of the new year. Just like many other feelings we have, its fleeting. So how do we better set ourselves up for success? Check out this winning formula

Goals + Motivation + Plan = Success

Most people have the goals and motivation, but rarely there is a plan that actually takes them there. So let’s make one.

The Power List

This next part is a template you can use as a martial artist. If not for martial arts, then change it how you see fit to give yourself the advantage it can serve.

  1. Drink 2 liters of water.
  2. Eat the proper macronutrients that are required for the daily goal.
  3. Work on one weakness and one strength.
  4. Ask at least one question in class.
  5. Read or listen to something for at least 10 minutes that grows your mind. My personal favorite is to listen to podcasts.

21 Days

There are numerous studies out there that state that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. Let’s take that step seriously and get to it but more importantly, write your wins down. You get the W if you do all five of your power list. Not 1. Not 2. Not 4. It has to be all 5 to get our win. You may not win everyday, but it is your goal to get as many wins as possible for the 21 days you have at the beginning of your inspirational and motivational year. Set yourself up for success and I’ll meet you at the top!
